Built in hob buying guide

Gas hob:

For a more authentic cooking experience a gas hob is a great choice. An important consideration when designing your new kitchen is where your gas pipes are located and make sure you use a ‘gas safe’ registered engineer to fit the hob.

Gas has great temperature control from simmering to boiling and can be regulated so quickly.

Number of gas burners – The more burners the more room to cook and we have compact 1 and 2 burner 30cm dominoes to 90cm 5 burner ones with triple ring Wok zone.

Pan supports – We have hobs with enamel pan supports but also have premium models with pro satin or cast iron professional style supports.

Easy cleaning – Traditionally a little harder to clean but check out our gas on glass models that have an easy to wipe down surface.

Safety – All our gas hobs are fitted with a flame safety device which means that if the flame goes out the gas supply is shut off.

LPG convertible? Yes all our hobs are supplied with LPG jets to convert to bottled gas.

Ceramic hob:

Electric ceramic hobs can be placed anywhere in the kitchen as long as there is a mains power source. Apart from our 30cm domino hobs all other models will need to be hard-wired to a fused spur consumer unit by a qualified electrician.

This style of hob is perfect if you want a sleek easy to clean surface.

Again, the more cooking zones you have the more pans you can use at the same time. If you do a lot of cooking for the family, you should pick a wider one with more zones or an extended zone hob.
