How to Redecorate Your Kitchen On a Budget
Tired of looking at your soup-splattered kitchen walls? Or maybe you’ve just about had it with the old-fashioned cabinets that were there when you moved in?
From time to time, we all get fed up with the way our homes look – and we wonder if a splash of paint here or some new wallpaper there might answer our interior woes. The thing is, redecorating any room in house needn’t cost a fortune.
Here on the My Appliances site, we’re letting you in on a few ways you can overhaul your kitchen for less. That’s right; you don’t have to spend a lot on new appliances and cabinetry. Instead, you can freshen up your space on any budget. Read on…
Add Colour
Whether you have the money to spend on new fixtures or fittings or you’re biding your time until you do, a splash of colour will make all the difference to your space. If yours is a kitchen/diner, why not add interest to the dining area with a large but inexpensive piece of artwork?
A print in a brightly coloured frame or a large canvas photograph will bring vibrancy and life to any wall – and it doesn’t have to cost a lot, either.
Look at places like Home Sense, The Range and even have a scout around Internet auction or selling sites to see what you can find. You know what they say, one man’s (or woman’s) trash is another man’s (or woman’s!) treasure, so you may well find exactly what you’re looking for – and well within your budget. We love the look of this kitchen/diner (above) which uses a pop of yellow to brighten up an otherwise quite neutral-looking space.
YouTube is Your Friend
Can’t afford to get handy man in to wallpaper your kitchen? Or perhaps you’d like to give your walls a lick of paint, but you don’t know where on earth to begin? Look to the wonder that is YouTube, as it’s absolutely bursting with DIY videos from the pros – and from others who simply like to make their house look lovely.
Hermione Chantal shares how she created the kitchen of her dreams on a budget, while Miss Annie has some easy and cheap kitchen upgrade ideas here.
Have a dig around the site and see what you can find, too – but remember, any improvements you make to your kitchen you do at your own risk!
Change One Small Thing
We’re firm believers in the fact that one small thing can make a difference – and if you can make one tiny and inexpensive change each week or month, by the end of the year, your kitchen will be looking a whole lot different. Plus, your bank balance will thank you for it.
So, whether you update your crockery, replace the pictures on your wall, or simply treat yourself to a new coffee machine or wine cooler, we promise you’ll feel better about the way your kitchen looks in no time.
Did you know, for example, that you can even paint old kitchen cabinets using just one product? That’s right. Of course, there are other paint options available, but we’re sharing this one by Annie Sloan as it’s the first that sprung to mind.
See if you can transform your kitchen for less, too – and don’t forget to let us know how you get on!
Until next time…
