How to Create an On-Trend Kitchen
Decorating your kitchen may well be the last thing on your mind. But for those who have been furloughed and feel like now’s a good a time as any to make some home improvements, perhaps you’ll appreciate a few hints and tips on what’s on trend in the world of kitchens in 2020/21.
Here’s how you can create a glossy magazine-worthy kitchen with a few, simple tweaks…
Green with Envy
While navy may have been the on-trend colour for cabinets in recent years, sites like Ideal Home say green is the way to go now. Whether you go the whole hog and paint your cabinets green, or you choose instead to incorporate some green accessories into your space, it could be the revamp your kitchen needs.
‘Deep forest greens can be balanced out with latte shades, smoky glass and soft metallics to bring opulence to the kitchen.’ Hayley Simmons, Head of Merchandising for Magnet, tells Ideal Home. ‘The addition of white marble and brass through design aspects like lighting and worktops, or even accessories, help to bounce the light around the space and offset the heavier hues.’
If your neutral kitchen is ready for an update, why not get busy with that paintbrush?
Statement Taps
Another relatively easy tweak to make is switching your taps to something with the ‘wow factor’. Statement taps – in matte black or brass – are all the rage currently.
Traditional Meets Modern
Can’t quite settle on a traditionally styled kitchen or a modern one?
Why settle for one over the other when you can have a spot of both?
Classic kitchens with modern touches are taking off in a big way in 2020/21. You could achieve this by complementing traditional cabinetry with quirky, pendant lamps. Or try a few modern vases or other trinkets to blend the two décor styles.
Of course, some people will love a completely modern kitchen – and they’re on-trend, too.
Industrial style kitchens are also still hugely popular, as well. Think exposed brickwork with metal finishing touches or accessories.
Statement Flooring
In 2020/21, it’s all about your kitchen floors.
Whether you spruce yours up with a jazzy rug or two or some cheap but impactful lino, your floors will do the talking this year and next.
If you opt for statement floors, you can opt for more neutral cabinets that won’t date as the years roll by. So, why not consider making this simple but effective change in your kitchen this summer?
