What is the difference? – Induction vs Ceramic
At first glance, a ceramic and induction hob can look very similar and there is minimal difference in many styles that we offer.
However if you are looking for an electric hob it is vital that you find out exactly what the difference if before you make the purchase.
A ceramic hob heats the glass surface however an induction hob works by heating only the pan, they are highly responsive as they use a magnetic field to generate heat.
It is worth noting that you will need ferrous metal pans for an induction hob and a handy way of testing whether you already have these is with a magnet!
Both ceramic and induction hobs are so simple to clean but you must remember to not use any hard abrasives so you avoid scratching the surface.
Really great read! Thank you for sharing this I recently had a ceramic oven, but I think induction is the way forward. I’m thinking of buying this one from this place (http://www.buyhomeappliance.co.uk/cooking/induction/britannia-rc10tiqls-100cm-induction-q-line-range-cooker-with-double-oven-stainless-steel) is this the best I can get for an induction, or would you recommend a different model?
