Ready, Bread-y…Bake! Bread Recipes You’ll Love
Ah, bread! We all love it, even if our waist lines are not so sure. And following on from the latest episode of TV’s The Great British Bake Off – which was bread-themed, of course – we’re bringing you some of our very favourite yeast-based recipes from around the net. Ready, bread-y…bake!
Soft Cinnamon and Sugar Pretzels
When you think of bread, you probably think of the savoury kind…the kind that’s generally slathered with hot butter or chucked in the toaster and hastily eaten in the car before you set off for work. Well, consider for a moment sweet bread-based items. That’s right; we’re about to knock your socks off with a sugary-sweet recipe we spotted via the Very Best Baking site.
This recipe has lazy Sunday afternoons written all over it – and seeing as autumn’s nearly here, it’s the perfect treat for the evenings too. Hot mug of cocoa and one of these cinnamon pretzels, anyone?
Taking 45 minutes to prepare and making 24 delicious pretzels, the recipe offers up US measurements but these can be converted easily online. Give this recipe a go and let us know how you get on!
Cheesy Garlic Bread
Considering cooking up a storm in the kitchen tonight? If you’re giving homemade pasta or pizza a go, you can’t go wrong with this recipe for cheesy garlic bread, as seen on the BBC Good Food site.
Homemade garlic bread will go great with pizza
The great thing about garlic bread is it’s so easy to make – and it goes just as well with traditional Italian fare as it does with a good, hearty autumnal stew. Use butter instead of margarine and what you’ll have is a deliciously moreish end product – just ideal for dunking in soup, that aforementioned stew, or simply for eating on its own. Yum!
Irish Soda Bread
If you’re a big Bake Off fan, you’ll have heard Mary and Paul talk about soda bread quite a lot – but have you tried it yet? And, more importantly, have you tried your hand at baking it?
Another bread-related winner from the BBC Good Food site, this soda bread recipe only takes 30 minutes to prepare. Cooking time is up to half an hour on top of that, which means you could start mid-morning and be finished way before lunch-time. Why not try this bread recipe first as a nice intro to bread making in general?
Jamie Oliver’s Flatbreads
We doubt he has time to make these anymore – not since baby number five arrived, anyway! – but Jamie Oliver reckons these simple flatbreads are a real failsafe in his household. You only need to hop on over to his website to see how easy they look to make, too; there’s even a picture-based step-by-step guide to ensure you can’t go wrong.
So go on, venture into the world of bread making with one of these fun and easy recipes – don’t forget to let us know how your bread turns out though! In fact, are you following us on Facebook yet?
