Stainless steel is known for its ability to resist rust and corrosion and is a popular choice for kitchen appliances. Its smooth matte finish gives your kitchen a sleek and expensive appearance whilst its non-porous surface is resistant to bacterial growth.
If you own these then you probably know that the one thing they are not is stain less!
Keeping your appliances in tip top condition using these:
- Soap or baby oil – Using a non-abrasive damp cloth applied with soap to clear off grime from your stainless steel. Make sure you wipe along the grain of the stainless steel for best results and dry with a clean cloth. Then it’s time to polish. Apply a small amount of baby oil to a cloth and apply sparingly to the stainless steel surface.
- White vinegar and olive oil – Apply white vinegar to a microfiber cloth or spray directly onto the surface. Apply the vinegar as many times as you want to remove stubborn stains and dry with a clean cloth. Apply a small amount of olive oil to a clean cloth and apply.
- WD-40 – Simply spray the WD-40 onto a clean cloth and apply. Using sparingly as it is petroleum based.
- Glass cleaner for fingerprints
- Water and a cloth – Use warm water and a lint free cloth.
What to avoid:
- Jewellery polish which can corrode stainless steel.
- Any product with Chloride or bleach in.
- Avoid cleaning with steel wool, steel brushes or abrasive pads as they can scrub away the top surface of the steel and the black screened symbols on the appliance.
Stainless steel appliances are durable and easy to maintain but they do require regular cleaning to keep them in pristine condition.
